Uniformed Security Guard’s
role in today’s modern society
Nowadays there are government buildings,
banks, hospitals, malls, hotels, restaurants, apartments, offices, around us or
in new places. Where people come and go in large numbers. During this, there is
a uniformed security guard who stands at the main entrance in these places and
maintains the crowd or controls the outgoing and incoming people. Uniformed
security guards protect not only government buildings but are responsible for
the safety of all citizens. They are frequently employed by transportation
security administration. Armoured cars containing the cash to be transferred to
different banks cannot do without security guards; in this case, since the job
involves huge amounts of money and is always at risk the security wears
bulletproof vests and carries firearms. Some uniformed security guard positions
may be mundane with routine perimeter walks and video surveillance monitoring,
the positions require individuals to stay on guard all the time and to be
conscientious of things out of the ordinary. Uniformed security guards often
work closely with the police when there is an incident and often provide
valuable surveillance footage as well as witness accounts.
There are several types of security
guards but mostly security guards are in a uniform. Typically this depends on
the type of work that they do. They are needed in various posts and are trained
accordingly. They are typically seen in all public places like departmental
shops, museums, banks, art galleries, corporate offices, etc. In these places,
they might be stationed just at the entrance or sometimes be required to patrol
inside the premises to observe any suspicious object, people or activity. There
are some that wear uniforms that give the authoritative look and some are plainly
dressed. Security guards are usually privately and officially employed persons
who are paid to protect properties or people. These security officers are
always in a particular uniform and protect property or people by maintaining
high visibility to discourage illegal and improper deeds. They observe by
watching video cameras or through patrols for signs of crime, fire or disorder.
If such situations occur, they take action and report these incidents to their
clients, as well as their security firm, as needed.
